Children:    Ty, born 1974: Todd, born 1976: Tia, born 1979

Comments:    I am now teaching Algebra to Freshmen at Arkansas City High, and loving it. I have 3 grandsons, Maverick, Colton, and Garrett, notice the cowboy names.

School Story:    I have many good memories of Dimmitt High. The basketball games, art class, clubs, friends, decorating for the Jr. Sr. prom. I guess the best practical joke played on the school was by Robert Froehner. The Drama class presented one act of a play one day. He spread the rumor that if they recieved a standing ovation, they would perform the rest of the play and we would get out of class. He got his standing ovation, but we still had to go back to class. One of my best memories is playing our Regional basketball games at Texas Tech. Maybe that if why one of my favorite movies is "Hoosiers". Coming from little ole Dimmitt and walking out on that big basketball floor was awesome. Dimmitt sure was fortunate to have had so many good basketball teams both girls and boys for so many years.

Carla,
I enjoyed our visit and I am sorry that my phone went dead. I am glad that you have joined our site and hope that you can find a way to attend the reunion.

After our conversation, I wondered what it was that you taught. My first guess was some kind of math. I remember when you would loan me and some of the other slackers your notebook periodically so that we could bring our notebooks up to date.

Take care and stay in touch. Later.

Richard

Richard, the way I remember it, Larry Gamble asked if he could borrow my Geometry notebook. I heard later that all you quys got together and copied it. All the while cussing my name because you couldn't read my writing. That's ok, sometimes I can't read it myself.

I am teaching Algebra I to Freshmen at Arkansas City High School. I am amazed at the way they are so dependet on their calculators, even multiplying 1 x 2 if they are signed numbers. I also have to reminded myself that they are still babies, only 14 or 15, even though they think that they are adults.

Carla,
We had nothing but good things to say about you. I remember worrying about the condition of your notebook when it was returned to you. You saved our life in the geometry class. We would probably not have passed had we not had our books up-to-date. If I never told you I'll tell you now, "Thanks for the help!"

I always felt sorry for Mrs. Lusk. It was criminal the way that she was treated.

Later,
Richard
