Virginia Gonzalez, of Slaton, was called home to be with our Lord on Feb. 21, 2010 at the age of 59 years.

She was born in Luling, Texas, on Sept. 6, 1950, to Mike Nino, Sr. and Manuela Vasquez. She graduated from El Paso High School and then completed her LVN nursing training at Methodist School of Nursing. She worked as an LVN at Slaton Care Center for over 20 years. She was a life long resident of Roosevelt area. She married Pete Gonzalez, in 1974, in Lubbock, Texas. She loved caring for her entire family. Her husband and children were her life. She supported their career choices and everything they did. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. She was a caregiver all her life and sacrificed her own career to minister to her parents, during their illness. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lubbock

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Monica of Slaton; daughter-in-law, Amber of Ft. Hood, Texas; two sons, Eric of Ft. Hood and Ruben of Lubbock; a granddaughter that was like her own child, Elizabeth, 19, of Roosevelt; with many additional special grandchildren; five step-children, Pete Gonzalez, Jr., Marcus Gonzalez, Ben Gonzalez, Patty Gonzalez and Gracie Gonzalez, all of Lubbock; many great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Joe of Lubbock, Ruben of Plainview, Edward of Amarillo, Gilbert of Dallas area, Mike, Jr. of Dumas, John of Hereford and Richard of Maxwell; and three sisters, Marlene Saldana of Lubbock, Alice Rieves of Hereford and Bonnie Turner of Minnesota.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Lupe; one sister, Marlene; and one son, Ronnie.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010 at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock.

Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at White Memorial Chapel.

Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
